Management Accountant

Location:  London
Reporting to: UK Finance Manager

Role Overview

The Finance department is a key and necessary component of Time Out business. One of the department’s key objectives is to provide reliable and accurate financial information to global management team for them to have a basis to make informed business decisions;  
Positions within this team should be able to provide expertise in financial reporting and timely information to all levels within the organisation, as well as be able to maintain external relationships as needed. This role requires a keen attention to detail and a “hands-on” approach to improving and maintaining efficiencies in the business. The candidate should be willing and able to liaise directly with key members of the organisation, adapting to the continuous changes within the organisation and should have strong presentation and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of management accounts and variance analysis reporting for focused areas within the business 
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations 
  • Production of KPI analysis
  • Management of employee staff expenses platform, including the posting and reconciliation of involved accounts
  • Assist year-end financial statements of subsidiaries.
  • Approval of supplier invoices, including coding in line with accepted chart of accounts and month end journal postings
  • Maintain records and support auditing process
  • Submission of Office of National Statistics
  • Ad hoc projects as needed
  • Cover other team members while they are away on holiday

Skills and Experience

Mandatory Skills

  • Early stages of an Accountancy qualification ACCA/CIMA/ACA (or equivalent)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • A strong understanding of accounting concepts
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to manipulate data into an attractive format for upper management
  • A will to develop their Accounting and Finance knowledge 
  • A strong knowledge of Excel is mandatory
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
  • Ability to review work and self-check as needed with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to interact successfully with dynamic personalities
  • Ability to articulate ideas to all areas of the business

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in SAP Business One and Vision 
  • Experience in a global company
  • Experience in the media industry
