Role Overview 

A key pillar of the Time Out sales strategy is to drive revenue growth from creativity via integrated solutions that bring together the power of the Time Out product portfolio. This role is a senior client-facing position, working with the Creative Solutions Strategists and Sales team to execute these creative ideas.

The Project Management Lead requires someone with at least 6 years’ experience in multi-platform project management and a strong record of high-quality content execution. The successful candidate will be tasked with line managing team of 4 project managers of varying levels of experience and will have a proven background of leading a team in previous roles. The individual will have the confidence to question existing processes and implement new ones when necessary, whilst managing a number of different cross-platform campaigns at any one time, from large scale multi-media partnerships, to smaller custom content solutions. 

Although part of the commercial team, this role will work closely with editorial, design, production and technology operation teams to glean insight and lead commercial processes where involvement from these teams is required.


Project Management Lead – Role Responsibilities

  • As a natural leader, you will lead and manage a growing team of Project Managers (4 at present), providing guidance and expertise to ensure team processes are understood and applied consistently across all campaigns to ensure we continuously uphold a reputation in market for efficient and top-quality delivery
  • Have a full understanding of Time Out’s proposition and market positioning, maintaining a strong knowledge of brand developments and external market knowledge to aid in team process evolution
  • Closely monitor team resource and capacity. Manage the production list for all booked work – scheduling, distributing and briefing project work across all team members.
  • Lead and demonstrate internal process and delivery implementation improvements within the team, ensuring each team member consistently adheres to best practice techniques.
  • Maintain a strong on-going relationship with internal editorial and sales departments, ensuring all departments are aligned to an evolving set of processes in the delivery of project work and commercial solutions adhere to project management standards. 
  • Build and maintain existing 3rd party supplies, seeking out new relevant suppliers.
  • Support and work closely with the Director of Creative Solutions with scheduling, financial management, project assurance and coaching and mentoring the Project Management team.
  • Deputising for the Director of Creative Solutions when they are absent. This could include trouble shooting on complex project issues and helping with managerial admin.
  • Display strong budgeting skills and be able to report back to the Director of CS regarding broader PM campaign performance through analysis of P&Ls.


Project Management – Delivery Responsibilities 

  • Manage P&Ls ensuring campaigns are delivered to budget and with appropriate margins.
  • Work in tandem with the Commercial Editor on commissioning and executing custom content, including print and digital features, experiential, video and more.
  • Collaborate with internal resource and external suppliers to create accurate and achievable project timelines.
  • Facilitating amendment/approval process between clients and suppliers.
  • Attending client and agency meetings and leading status updates.
  • Schedule and optimise digital and social campaigns to deliver agreed client KPIs.
  • Regularly report on delivery and key metrics for creative solutions campaigns, working closely with the creative solutions strategists.
  • Occasionally contribute to internal brainstorming sessions for collaborative concept generation and proposal making.


Skills and Experience

  • Hold at least 6 years’ of project management experience, preferably in a publishing environment.
  • Demonstrable record of leading and mentoring a team where analysing and implementing new processes has been a key deliverable. Previous management experience and leading a project management team by example a big plus.
  • A proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale campaigns to time and budget.
  • Understanding of campaign financial management and working to targeted profit margins to meet the demands of a commercial environment.
  • Driven by leading best practice and collaborative delivery, with a real attention to detail.
  • A good understanding of the cross-platform sales process and commercial projects in general
  • Excellent relationship-building skills internally and externally with clients and suppliers.
  • Ability to learn on the job to develop a working knowledge of the Time Out’s platform, technologies and processes – identifying knowledge gaps and taking the necessary steps to fill these.
  • Review, maintain and roll out enhanced internal working processes within the Project Management and wider commercial team.
