Role Overview

Time Out is seeking a PR Manager to join our team. The PR Manager will oversee North American public relations from our New York office, and will report into the Director of PR & Communications based in London.

This newly created role will be involved in a variety of PR and communication activities, supporting the delivery of the Group’s PR strategy and plans. The successful individual will be working on the execution of all corporate, trade, consumer, and internal communications for the business in North America – in close alignment with the  Director of PR & Communications.

We are looking for a seasoned professional with a hunger for achieving fantastic PR results and engaging with journalists; with excellent writing, project management, planning and multichannel communications knowledge; and with the breadth of experience when it comes to the day to day drum beat of media relations and corporate, trade and consumer PR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive PR in North America: Deliver against the global PR strategy by implementing and executing local activity and plans to support the overall business and brand strategy, in line with our PR KPIs

  • Company focus area: Work across the Group’s two business divisions, Time Out Media and Time Out Market of which we will open five in 2019 in North America, making it a focus area of our PR activity

  • Coordination: Manage all PR activity on a day to day basis to ensure ongoing high profile media coverage

  • Global PR and communication tasks: Support ongoing global PR and communication activity

  • Collaboration: Work with teams across the business which includes core Group teams and local teams

  • Local execution: Ensure every piece of global internal and external communication is consistently executed locally

  • Measuring/analytics: Measure, monitor, and report against the PR goals and coverage and the impact on the overall business KPIs

  • Press office: Possess experience managing a press office and keen to pitch and sell-in our stories to media

  • Press material: Write, edit, localize and proof-read PR material

  • Speaker opportunities & events: Manage speaker opportunities and content for events that leverage the business strategy and agenda

  • Handle PR social media accounts

  • Core PR focus Areas:

    • Corporate comms: Support the overall corporate comms strategy in order to raise Time Out Group’s profile in North America internally and externally in line with our business strategy and global PR strategy

    • Business & Trade Media: Responsible for the continued media relations and coverage delivery in B2B / trade press aligned to the core strategy

    • Consumer PR: A continued drumbeat of consumer PR to raise the brand’s profile

    • Employee & internal comms: You will support and execute the internal comms in North America in alignment with the global strategy

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced and very dynamic company environment - ideally in the hospitality, entertainment and media sectors - is highly desirable

  • 3+ years in a PR role – including working in a global environment and successfully working with agencies

  • Little black book full of contacts with hospitality, business, consumer and trade press

  • Experience in delivering B2B / trade, corporate, consumer as well as internal communications

  • Outstanding ability to drive PR results against business objectives

  • A self-starter that’s comfortable with change and working in a very busy press office and towards tight deadlines

  • Creative thinking and knowledge of different PR and social media tactics is essential and how this delivers against the business strategy to achieve the best coverage

  • Exceptional writing and proof-reading skills, and high attention to detail

  • Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with key people and teams  across the business
