Role Overview

Provide Time Out Hong Kong with best in class video content for our consumer users and advertisers, alike. Our Videographer will work with the editorial, design and commercial teams to develop our storytelling into video for use on our own digital platforms as well as our branded social digital channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce online videos across multiple platforms from short form, daily content for social media to long form series.
  • Devise creative treatments and executions and see them through from planning to delivery. This includes working with editors on concepts, planning shoots (in studio and on location), sourcing any necessary props and costumes, obtaining model releases, shooting video (with high-quality sound and lighting), editing it in FinalCut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro and/or AfterEffects, and posting it online.
  • Create engaging videos that meet individual and team goals (e.g., engagement, traffic, conversion, etc.).
  • Curate videos from multiple sources to enhance existing content.
  • Create graphics packages, special effects and animations.
  • Collaborate with City Editors to plan videos consistent with the editorial calendar.
  • Be available on very short notice to shoot breaking news.
  • Work closely with social media teams to deliver engaging video content.
  • Maintain Time Out’s video archive.
  • Work with Brand & Creative Director to ensure Time Out videos reflect house style.
  • Ensure Time Out meets its copyright and legal obligations.
  • Work with Commercial teams as needed on special projects.
  • Maintain a network of talented, reliable freelancers who can create video content for Time Out, and manage freelancers as needed.
  • Ensure office video equipment is in good working order; budget for repair/replacement as needed.
  • Act as an effective brand ambassador for Time Out Group and an evangelist for our brand in the market.

  • Demonstrated desire to build a great business.
  • A clear understanding of the financial and functional dynamics of a global media business.
  • Clear ability to collaborate across business functions and with external parties.
  • A demonstrable passion for and excellent knowledge of video production.
  • Expertise creating graphics and animation.
  • Considerable artistic talent.
  • Highest standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise accordingly.
  • Experience writing tight briefs for external contributors.
  • The ability to work quickly to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • A strong industry reputation.
  • Flexibility and a professional approach at all times.
  • The ability to self-supervise in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in and contribute to a fun and dynamic team-based environment.
  • Fluent English.


  • Must be educated to degree level or equivalent industry qualification.
  • An additional qualification in video production preferable.
