Human Resources Generalist

Reporting To: HR Manager, North America

Role Overview

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for overseeing multiple functions of the HR department including benefits, payroll, compliance, 401k and employee relations. We are looking for someone who is well-versed on best HR practices, and is enthusiastic about bringing that knowledge to new and innovative programs to the North America team.


  • Create strong relationships with Time Out employees, including department leadership, in order to understand employee needs, goals, and benchmarks.

  • Support the HR Manager, North America in managing employee relations and management training.

  • Manage payroll administration and utilize reporting tools.

  • Partner with our benefits brokers and 401k provider to manage our plans and ensure Time Out is in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

  • On-board all US new hires.

  • Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback to senior leadership team.

  • Create original and fun employee engagement programs, and partner with the Office Manager in order to execute.

  • Support remote staff in regional cities including Boston, Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles/San Francisco, ensuring their employee experience is unparalleled.


  • 4-6 years of Human Resources and payroll experience - ADP knowledge required.

  • Strong knowledge of New York state and local labor laws. National experience, especially California, a plus!

  • Proven ability in pulling reports from various HR tools.

  • Organizational expert: If you love color-coding your closet, we want you on our team!

  • Eager to support staff in their Time Out experience, and brainstorm ways for their experience to be even stronger.

  • Strong communication skills, including e-mail, phone, and in-person communication.

  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in MS Suite (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word)

  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification preferred
