Junior Social Video Editor (Freelance)

Location: Time Out, King's Cross, London

Reporting to: Global Video Commissioning Editor

Hours: Part time - full time available

Role Overview

We are looking for a self-motivated and passionate individual with strong video production, storytelling and social media skills to join our engagement team. Your  role will be to research and source material as well as edit video material for our social media channels. You will also be taking on development tasks to help find Time Out-relevant stories for us to shoot and edit. A strong awareness of social trends, industry specifications and an ability to improve videos by taking on board analytical, editorial and audience and feedback and is also highly valued. 

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering high-quality social media videos for publication on Time Out platforms

• Sourcing material and gaining permission for use from content owners

• Editing material using Premiere Pro with a strong focus on shareability and social video best practises

• Writing social-focussed on-screen video scripts and implementing them using Adobe After Effects.

• Researching and developing Time-Out relevant stories and finding original stories for us to create from scratch and attending shoots when required. 

• Understanding Time Out’s brand tone and values and how they translate into video concepts and franchises


• Strong video editing skills and experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects essential

• Video production background with social media experience desired, preferably with experience working within a similar role at a news channel, lifestyle brand or social media brand

• Excellent video research, development and storytelling skills

• Understanding of current trends and what makes engaging content

• Ability to learn on the job to develop a working knowledge of the Time Out’s brand, technologies and processes

• Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise and respond to video briefs quickly

• Experience in video journalism and/or attending shoots desirable

• Ability to shoot desirable
