Software Engineer (Frontend)

Role Overview
We are seeking Software Engineers to join our world-class Technology organization. You will be focusing largely on client side Javascript with some work in PHP/Symfony. Those inclined toward full-stack development are welcome and encouraged to explore the other parts of our technology stack. You will be responsible for the development and quality of our products. You will develop key features of the website, and connected applications for consumers, internal users, and business partners.

If every one of your browsers is open examining javascript and DOM structures, if a low TTI is at the top of your wishlist, if you have the skills for identifying and removing race conditions in javascript library initialization, and if ReactJS was an exciting development in your world, then this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop software solutions in small squads with a focus on simplicity, scale, and speed
  • Work on consumer facing features and supporting web-site code
  • Almost certainly spending most of your days in Javascript (and its frameworks) with a much smaller amount of time in PHP (Symfony) 
  • Help make architectural decisions about new platforms and frameworks
  • Have a voice in the future of a growing business
  • Help create a culture of problem-solvers, eager to take on new challenges


Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years software development experience, 
  • BS/BA in Computer Science/Math a plus.
  • Proficiency in writing software and the fundamentals of creating/modifying a web site
  • Experience developing web pages with HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP
  • Able to use API’s to receive content for web or mobile applications
  • Comfortable in Linux, able to take a plain machine and deploy a custom web site
  • Experience working with databases using SQL is a plus
  • Experience using modern source control systems
  • Understands potential breakpoints when scaling for the web
  • Able to communicate clearly verbally and in written documentation
  • Has opinions on coding practices and technical design rigor
