Time Out is seeking an Associate Things To Do Editor to join our New York team. The Associate Things To Do Editor is responsible for producing content about the city’s festivals and events, from best-of lists to key features and listings. To be successful in this role, the editor must stay current on events and developments in their area of coverage, attending openings and events within their area, creating blog posts, features and seasonal feature packages based on audience interest and SEO objectives. This is an editorial role that involves writing both individually and collaboratively with the rest of the editorial team. The ideal candidate should be able to think across multiple platforms and develop stories that live online, through social, email and other channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously pitch and write compelling stories about New York’s wide range of things to do, events and attractions.

  • Write accurate and compelling listings for events, festivals and more city happenings.

  • Maintain a calendar of major events that are relevant to assigned areas of coverage and deliver and maintain daily, weekly and monthly event calendars that include the city’s most exciting events across all verticals.

  • Contribute news posts that highlight topical developments pertaining to assigned areas of coverage.

  • Assist the social team for writing compelling captions for any Thing to Do-related events posted on Instagram

  • Develop creative ideas and content for collaborative packages and lists, within New York as well as nationally.

  • Coordinate with freelancers to shape and develop additional content for the sections, as necessary.

  • Ensure that all content meets the company’s SEO standards.

  • Help the Markets team curate cultural experiences for the Time Out Market New York

Skills & Experience:

  • 3 to 4 years’ professional experience in online content production environment.

  • Ability to work with various tools of the trade, including content management systems; photo, video and minimal HTML knowledge.

  • An understanding of SEO and its application to content production and promotion.

  • A track record of producing content that engages users and grows audience across multiple platforms.

  • Ability to write concisely for social platforms.

  • Excellent writing, editing, communicating and interviewing skills.

  • Awareness of city events throughout the calendar year.

  • Ability to curate events and content to cater to a targeted audience.

  • Quick, creative thinker

  • Passionate about the city and culture
