Overview

Time Out is seeking a Designer to join our New York team. The Designer will be responsible for assisting the Art Director with the design of all collateral for Time Out. The position will involve producing collateral for both print and digital, including all US magazine titles and supplements, as well as commercial, event, and marketing projects. They will be supervised by the Art Director, and will work with a team of talented designers and photographers. They will regularly collaborate with key staff of business departments to ensure brand vision is consistent.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Art Director with design and production of the Time Out New York biweekly magazine, as well as any additional U.S. titles. This includes page layout, developing concepts for both features and covers (and executing them), retouching images, proofing pages, illustration

  • Assist the Art Director with the design of collateral across all Time Out departments where required

  • Work closely with other designers, photographers, photo  editors, and edit team to ensure all work produced is up to the highest standard and consistent with the company’s global visual direction

  • Meet aggressive deadlines and multi-task regularly

  • Contribute to a collaborative design work environment


Personal Attributes & Essential Skills

  • At least 2-3 years of industry experience. Experience in publishing or magazine design is ideal

  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite is required, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. After Effects is a bonus

  • A strong creative eye, with a passion for design, and a strong knowledge of core design principles (typography, grids, layout, etc.)

  • Well organized, excellent multitasking skills

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to write briefs and rationalize work eloquently to anyone required

  • Must have strong time management skills, and show initiative to meet all deadlines

  • Must be educated to degree level or equivalent industry qualification

  • Excellent knowledge of digital and print design, and the ability to reproduce work on multiple platforms (magazine, social, online, etc.)
