Role Overview

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our world-class Technology organization. You will develop and maintain data warehouses and high-performance production databases for various stakeholders. You will develop and deploy ETLs and data pipelines, consuming data from multiple sources (ranging from transactional databases, 3rd party API’s, FTP, etc), in order to populate the warehouses and databases with information from around the business and our partners. You will define best-practices for data storage and access throughout the company and build tools to enforce these practices. This data infrastructure is the foundation of the tools and analyses that support the insights and decision-making that drive our business, and is therefore critical to our success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data systems and processes for business stakeholders
  • Contribute to architectural decisions around data platforms and systems
  • Help define a culture of data collection, integrity, and how to gain insight
  • Think like an entrepreneur and own your work, be responsible for your systems
  • Engage in technical discussions and present solutions to product and business challenges
  • Solve data problems across the organization


Skills and Experience

  • You should have at least a BS/BA in Computer Science, Math or any Analytical Field
  • Have been designing and influencing decisions around data architecture for at least four years
  • Be able to gather and understand requirements, helping design appropriate Data Warehouse models, including when to apply normalisation/denormalisation techniques
  • Have experience using Amazon Redshift (and Spectrum) or any other columnar database
  • Be able to design and develop ETL pipelines using Python
  • Understand and have used workflow management tools such as Airflow, Luigi, Azkaban, Pinball, etc
  • Be able to write complex SQL queries
  • Be able to debug and improve database performance issues
  • Have experience working with cloud computing services, preferably AWS
  • Have experience using and building continuous deployment pipelines using CloudFormation and Ansible
  • Be comfortable working in Linux/Unix based environment
