Role Overview 

This is a key role in the Time Out Paris sales team, requiring a high-energy individual who can monetise a designated territory with media agencies and client-direct relationships, including cultural institutions, theatre/performing arts, bars and local cultural festivals and events. 

This role must take responsibility for the full monetisation across all media revenue streams, including print, digital and event sponsorships.

The chosen candidate will also be responsible for the quality of experience offered to clients - ensuring that the client enjoys satisfaction in all aspects of their relationship with Time Out, including but not limited to customer service and the speed of post campaign reporting. 

The successful candidate will bring a real sense of pace and urgency to Time Out’s commercial efforts and their own personal business ethic, demonstrating a clear desire to hit targets and to deliver rapid growth. 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in online and/or integrated media sales at a top media organisation. They will be an energetic self-starter with a consultative sales approach who can dive in and add value to the sales process by providing smart marketing ideas to our clients that will grow their business and ours. This individual will be highly articulate and results-driven with strong analytical skills and a commitment to creating new business opportunities.

Time Out believes that all sellers in the modern organisation must seek to thrive in a creative environment and be able to sell creative ideas and experiential solutions in addition to traditional display advertising. A key part of the Time Out sales strategy is to drive revenue growth from creativity via integrated solutions that bring together the power of the Time Out product portfolio.

This role will be supported by creative and campaign coordinators to ensure that Time Out develops an industry reputation for creativity, client-specific solutions and professional service delivery. However, this role bears ultimate responsibility for the client’s satisfaction and will maintain an active, overseeing presence throughout the planning and execution of any creative solution. Servicing our external customers is an essential part of this role and therefore someone with excellent interpersonal skills is required.

The chosen candidate must speak fluent English as they will be liaising with the London office constantly.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage and strategise to demonstrate how working with Time Out will drive awareness, consideration and sales
• Demonstrate drive and resourcefulness by exploring multiple approaches to any given sales opportunity and ‘joining the dots’; you will develop strong client-direct relationships and show an innovative and persistent approach to unlocking new budgets within those organisations
• Identify and understand trends within a multitude of entertainment/lifestyle markets and industries 
• Demonstrate consistently high external call rates - minimum 5 meetings per week
• Effectively establish the Time Out brand and story with advertisers 
• Meet and exceed revenue targets every quarter 
• Be an “order maker” not an “order taker”: develop strong business relationships with designated clients to understand their objectives and budgets; proactively suggest creative solutions designed to maximise their investment in the Time Out brand
• Manage continuous RFP interaction with agencies; respond to agency/client requests within 24 hours where feasible
• Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline; take responsibility for accurate and frequent forecasting
• Maintain accurate and informative call information and deal history
• Deliver extraordinary account management both internally and externally 
• Act as an effective brand ambassador for Time Out Group and an evangelist for our brand in the market
• Take responsibility for the optimisation of your own schedule, focussing on high priority opportunities, closing deals with urgency, and spending at least 70% of your time dealing with customers directly 
• Controlling your business to avoid customer disputes but dealing with them swiftly if they arise
• Understanding market conditions and competitive forces
• Deliver ‘cross-platform and creative solutions’ to customers
• Implementing yield, volume and market share strategies as directed
• Undertaking specific operational and management duties where and when appropriate

Skills and Experience

• Exceptional networking skills as well as attention to detail and customer service skills, a prerequisite for forging new client-direct relationships 
• Proven digital sales track record in display, mobile and video, as well as clear experience in driving revenue across programmatic buying
• Demonstrated success in structuring, closing and managing complex deals
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Appreciation and ability to articulate how integrated marketing solutions deliver solid solutions of clients marketing and communications needs
• 3+ years of media sales experience, with 2 years of direct online sales
Sales with event sponsorships and e-Commerce is a plus
• Relationships with top marketing decision makers, or marketing teams, at client companies and agencies 
• Understand how digital technology works and the ability to explain in ordinary and technical terms as appropriate
